Die Schanze – Regina Rebele

Schanze is a district of Hamburg. It used to be a place for workmen, immigrants – later on for students and self-governed people. Induced by rehabilitation rents are increasing – old-established trades and residents capitulate and move away. The town scape is changing completely. The district is currently turning into a destination of new business start-ups, bars and clubs. Residents fear that Schanze is getting characterless and no longer different from other districts.

The 3d-modell shows the discords within the district and clarifies the cleft between the old structures and the new ones. Different perspectives can be captured by revolving the modell. Therefore the beholders can witness the changing face of a working-class neighbourhood.

Regina is a graphic designer living in Germany.
