Bureaucratis – Jan Banning

Jan Banning’s “Bureaucratics” is a photographic study of the cultures and rituals of public administration, a journey through the offices of city councils, archivists, administration and prefects in all over the world.

Jan Banning was born in 1954 in Almelo in the Netherlands and studied social and economic history in 1981 before working as a freelance photographer he was ans. His documentary photography has been published in numerous publications (including The New Yorker, Time, SZ magazine, Geo), and exhibited internationally. The series “Bureaucratics” in 2004 was awarded the World Press Award.
