After my visit in Art-Athina 09. One was the name that swirled in my mind for days.

Born in Athens, Greece in 1979. He studied painting and scenography at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, Greece (1998-2003) and at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid, Spain (2001). He was awarded a scholarship and completed his Master of Arts degree in Interior and Spatial Design, Chelsea College, London, England. He has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Lives and works in Athens.

Believing that the three dimensions are not the sole criterion for the delineation of a space, Thanos Klonaris presents either a series of natural landscapes into which he incorporates ground plans of artificial places, or utopias, idyllic places, which though imaginary, include aspects of real life.

Th. Klonaris suggests an alternative reality with people as a starting point. What is fascinating is that the human figure is absent from all his compositions. Nevertheless human interference is witnessed in all his ground plans, huts, houses and his use of furniture.

Thanos Klonaris explores the boundaries between the imaginary and the real, the relations and contrasts between existent and non-existent spaces, through a narration of place and scale.
